Our Organization

Promoting community through high quality and
accessible recreation facilities, programs, and services.

Our History

Westside Recreation Centre was built by community. In 2000, hundreds of dedicated community volunteers, with the support of generous donors and a capital contribution from the City of Calgary, achieved the dream of building a recreation centre in Calgary’s southwest. The commitment and contributions of those supporters resulted in Westside Recreation Centre, a facility that is enjoyed by more than 1.5 million visitors each year. In 2010, Westside conducted its first major expansion to meet its growing youth demographic. This was completed, again, by loyal community members, many dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and with contributions from the Province of Alberta and City of Calgary to provide Westside with new and expanded spaces that will serve its communities for years to come.
